Reading Observation Jorja Walden Monday 19th August.
My goal is:
- to develop appropriate routines and procedures.
- To form small groups of students who are similar in their development of a reading process and read at the same level of text so that I can teach them in guided reading.
Thank you for having us in your room today.
From our observations it is evident that:
- Students in your classroom are given small group instruction
- Groups meet regularly, and strategies and skills taught are based on assessment
- Appropriate texts are selected to meet the needs of the students
- Learning transfers to other situations (string activity)
- Rotation activities are clearly signposted
- You are developing appropriate routines and procedures
Future Focus
How could you provide more effective follow up activities that build on the guided reading lesson?
